On time delivery assurance:

We have an extensive capacity planning system.  Its success is founded on:

  • A detailed manufacturing schedule which breaks down individual jobs into smaller more manageable parts but at the same time integrates all jobs onto a master schedule. This ensures that resources are not rob from "peter to pay paul". Conflicts between jobs are controlled. This schedule is updated weekly.  It schedules and tracks manufacturing start, shipping and on site dates, total hours, manpower requirements, and progress.
  • A regular weekly production meeting is attended by the Manager, Manufacturing Superintendent, Project Management, Scheduling clerk, Shipping and Shop foremen and purchasing/shipping.   Agenda not only reviews progress on all current work on a job by job basis, it also reviews quality issues, shop issues, safety issues, shipping/receiving, and manpower / capacity issues.  Team participation and ownership of work by all is encouraged and expected.
  • yard to consolidate shipments in Thunder BayLarge lay down area in yard to consolidate shipments, which allows more time to arrange and co-ordinate shipments.
  • Excellent working relationship with a local freight company.  They are competent, and reliable. They are here when we need them and deliver when required.
  • We maintain a material inventory, of approx. $1.2 million in raw materials and consumables, to insure we have material when we need it.  We also have an extensive material suppliers network, with excellent on time delivery track records.  Our buying power is the largest of this type in this area, providing us with excellent material pricing.

Safety:

We have an extensive in house safety program including:

  • A health and safety policy and procedures manual
  • A Joint Health and Safety Committee comprised of three management representatives (including the Plant Manager) and three worker representatives.  All members are certified as required by law in Ontario.  This committee meets monthly.
  • We have a regular workplace safety inspection which happens every month.
  • We have monthly "toolbox" safety meetings for all workers to address safety awareness, training and concerns.
  • Workers go through various additional safety training courses specific to their work requirements.
  • We track and report our safety statistics on a monthly basis.
